To prepare for your first lesson with a new tutor it is helpful if you:

1. Know Your Goals
   What are you hoping to get out of your lessons? Knowing the answer to this question will help you get the most from your tutoring experience from day one. Let your tutor know about your short- and long-term goals to ensure you are both aligned.
2. Share Learning Materials in Advance
   Once your tutor responds, the best way to ensure your expectations are met during a lesson is to equip them with the information they need to get you started in the right direction. Tutors suggest sharing materials like these:

• • Course syllabus or relevant course materials
  • Assignment description, rubric, or exam outlines
  • Previous work assignments

If your lesson is online, we recommend checking out our online tutoring FAQ and video tutorials to learn how each of the features on the Online Lesson Tool work so that you’re ready to use them during your first lesson.

When it comes time for your lesson, log in to your account Dashboard, and click on "Join My Online Lesson" on the left-hand side to join your tutor.

Please note, the Online Tool is not supported on mobile devices.

You definitely can! Check out the online tool demo room and get familiar with all the features! In this closed test room, you can get comfortable with uploading documents, writing on the whiteboard, or sharing your screen.

If you're participating in an online lesson, there are two ways to join:

1. From your Student Dashboard, click the big green Join my online lesson button and select the name of the tutor you're meeting with. This will take you directly to the online tool once you pass the AV check.

To schedule an online lesson, simply reach out to your tutor directly via your Wyzant Messages to request a time and date. Once your tutor adds the lesson to their Calendar, you will receive an email notification with a link to your online lesson. It will also appear on your Dashboard under your “Scheduled Lessons.”

When it comes time for your lesson, there are multiple ways to meet your tutor!

• Click the link in your confirmation or reminder emails to start your lesson after a brief AV check. Log-in credentials are still required to access your lesson via link. 
• Log into your Wyzant account using Chrome or Firefox and click the “Join online lesson” link under your Lessons tab.
